According to analytical agency IDC, Apple's iPhones were the most popular smartphones in China in the fourth quarter and all of 2023, despite pressure from local manufacturers and expanding government bans. The company's success is attributed to a smaller slump in demand and well-timed discounts and promotions.

Overall, smartphone sales in China fell by 5%, but Huawei still managed to return to the top five manufacturers. Apple also regained the title of the largest smartphone vendor, but iPhone 15 sales in the Chinese market continue to fall due to the expansion of government bans.
